What’s Happening

Principal’s Report

As we come to the end of another busy and rewarding term, I want to sincerely thank our students and families for their tremendous efforts across all areas of school life. From academic achievements and cultural events to sporting pursuits, it has been wonderful to see such commitment, participation, and pride in our school community. As usual, our Week 10 Newsletter is a shortened version.

Colour Run 2025

Friday’s Colour Explosion Run was a fun way to close out Week 9. Massive thanks to Matt, Melissa, Donna and Tamra from our awesome P&C who led and organised the day along with their amazing volunteers! Please keep fundraising as all money raised goes to securing more chilled water bubblers! The Administration Team shouldn’t have to get slimed for anything less than raising

$10 000 I think😊 Well done to the top individual fundraisers as below:

This year, Year 6 were the highest fundraisers. Well done for your community spirit team!

Art Show 2025

Our Art Show was held in beautiful weather on Tuesday afternoon, showcasing creative student work using the theme ‘Shaping the World’. A massive thanks to the P&C for supplying the display boards, Vice President Matt for being the Auctioneer and organiser as well as Tamra, President Donna on the finance, Angelique for preparing the treats and to our other volunteers who helped make this evening successful. Thank you also to the behind-the-scenes organisers in Miss Vaughn, Mrs Battye, Mr Capill and Mrs Howard - great job. Our musicians sounded wonderful as well, led by Mrs Burnett and Mr U adding to the great atmosphere. Thanks to the staff that attended or prepared their class pieces and above all, our community bidders who treasured one of a kind collaborative art pieces and of course, our student artists. Awesome work Southport! 

Swimming P-4

Thank you to all that committed to our swimming program for 2025. The Gold Coast Aquatic Centre staff do a phenomenal job ensuring they receive quality instruction. Thank you to parents and caregivers who prepare your children to attend and to the class teachers who work tirelessly to support multiple students to, at and from the pool whilst ensuring safety is front of mind. Students had a great time which makes it all worthwhile. I encourage you to continue this journey of learning to swim outside of school as well, as our program is only an introductory component and follow up at home is vitally important to compliment this offering.

Partnerships of Learning

Congratulations to the 315 families who attended our Partnerships of Learning conversations held in Week 9. We trust that you were able to celebrate a piece of work your child was proud to discuss and you are clear on a goal that you and your child can work towards.

As we head into the September holiday break, I encourage everyone to take the time to rest, recover, and enjoy time with loved ones. We look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready to finish Term 4 strongly together. Term 4 will resume on Tuesday 7^th October. Wishing you all a happy and safe holiday!
